Get to Know the All-New 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Chevrolet has updated the 2023 Colorado with new performance, capability, and customization features. With four new interior trims, new off-road models, and a new exterior design, there’s a lot to like in the all-new 2023 Colorado.

The all-new Colorado is available as the Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71, ZR2, and Trail Boss models. It also has three new chassis stances to enhance the trim capabilities for work, daily driving, and off-road fun.

The team at Spitzer Chevrolet Northfield is expecting the 2023 Colorado to arrive on our lot in January 2023.

Tuning the 2.7L Turbo for Distinct Outputs

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado engine starts with the 2.7-liter inline four-cylinder engine that is also standard in the full-size Silverado. The automaker has tuned the engine for three distinctive needs: daily driving, off-roading, and towing.

The 2.7L Turbo will be available in the WT and LT to deliver 3,500 pounds of towing capability, 237 horsepower, and 259-pound feet of torque. Drivers who want to take their mid-size Colorado off-road can choose the trims with the 2.7L Turbo Plus engine with 310 horsepower, 390 lb-ft of torque, and 7,700 pounds of towing capacity. This engine is standard in the Z71 and Trail Boss and available in the WT and LT.

Finally, Chevy is putting a 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine with 7,700 pounds of towing capability, 310 horsepower, and 430 lb-ft of torque in the ZR2 models. All three engines have a second-generation eight-speed automatic transmission. The Chevrolet Colorado transmission excels in off-road situations with low speeds, and it has smooth shifting for a comfortable ride.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado has three chassis setups that match the engines. The standard chassis is built for daily driving in the WT, LT, and Z71 trims. The Trail Boss has a two-inch factory lift with an ultra-wide stance and the Colorado ZR2 has a three-inch factory lift with a wide stance and DSSC Multimatic dampers. All 2023 Colorado pickup trucks have a wheelbase that is 3.1 inches longer than the 2022 models with a Crew Cab with a Short Box.

Drive Modes to Enhance Off-Roading and Trailering

The Colorado has a special knob in the center console with five drive modes. Daily drivers can stick with the Normal mode, while the Tow/Haul mode adjusts the shifting points and throttle response to optimize towing.

Three off-road modes include Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja. The first is for general off-roading, while the Terrain mode is for low-speed rock crawling on models with higher ground clearance, and the Baja mode is designed for high-speed desert running on sand.
